Stone Paper.
Paper, redefined by limestone.
A premium, tree-free paper alternative that looks and feels like conventional paper but is naturally waterproof, tear-resistant and fully recyclable.
What Is Stone Paper?
Paper without a single tree, drop of water, or bleach bath.
Stone paper, sometimes called mineral paper or rock paper, is a next-generation paper alternative made primarily from calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) and a small percentage of non-toxic, food-grade HDPE resin. It is produced entirely without wood pulp, water, bleach, acids or optical brighteners.
The limestone is ground into an ultra-fine powder, combined with the resin as a binder, then extruded and calendered into thin, flexible sheets. The result is a smooth, bright white material that feels remarkably close to premium coated paper but is naturally waterproof, far more tear-resistant, and 100% recyclable back into new stone paper.
Because limestone is one of the most abundant minerals on Earth, and the production process consumes virtually no water and no forestry resources, stone paper offers a genuinely lower-impact alternative for packaging, publishing, labels, retail materials and outdoor printed goods.
Composition
Simple by design.
Just two raw materials. No hidden chemistry. Fully traceable across the supply chain.
80%
Calcium Carbonate
Finely ground limestone powder (CaCO₃), naturally abundant, non-toxic and fully inert.
18–20%
HDPE Resin
Food-grade, non-toxic high-density polyethylene acting as the binder between mineral particles.
0%
Wood Pulp
No trees are harvested. No wood pulp. No bleach. No acids. No optical brighteners.
Key Properties
Stone Paper Benefits
Six core properties that make stone paper a serious alternative to traditional wood-pulp paper, especially for packaging, publishing and outdoor applications.
Tree-Free Production
Stone paper is made from ~80% calcium carbonate (limestone) and ~20% non-toxic HDPE resin. Not a single tree is cut down to produce it.
Oil & Water Resistant
Naturally waterproof, tear-resistant and grease-proof, ideal for food packaging, outdoor maps, labels and harsh environments.
Food Safe
Manufactured without acids, bleach or optical brighteners. FDA-compliant and safe for direct contact with food and beverages.
Exceptional Printability
A naturally smooth surface delivers superior results on offset, UV offset, digital and inkjet printers with no granulation and crisp detail.
Zero Water Consumption
Unlike pulp paper — which can consume up to 60L of water per A4 sheet — stone paper is produced with virtually no water at all.
Photodegradable & Recyclable
Under sunlight, stone paper gradually breaks down into harmless calcium carbonate dust. It is also fully recyclable back into stone paper.

| Water used in production | ~10 L per A4 sheet | ≈ 0 L |
| Trees cut per ton | ~20 mature trees | 0 |
| Bleach & acids | Required | None |
| Water resistance | Low | Naturally waterproof |
| Tear resistance | Low | 2–3× higher |
| Photodegradable | No | Yes, returns to CaCO₃ dust |
| Recyclable | Limited cycles | Fully, back into stone paper |
